Integral AC motors

Integral AC motors are the engineered solution for compact and optimized hydraulic power units. Available from 0,25 to 7,5 kW, in single-phase or three-phase versions and with 2 or 4 poles, these motors are directly flanged to the central manifold for maximum compactness.

A single tang drive coupling can suit all frame sizes and power levels, helping simplify design and assembly. Compared with standard B14 AC/IEC motors, Hydronit integral AC motors offer important advantages for mini power pack applications, including higher power density and higher starting torque.

These motors are specifically designed for intermittent duty (S3 40%), which matches the operating conditions of most mini hydraulic power units. In emergency conditions, they may be used continuously up to 70% of their nominal power.

Because of their construction, single-phase motors should not run without load for extended periods, as this may cause overheating. They are also not recommended for start-under-load applications, unless the system has been properly engineered with suitable precautions.

B14 IEC and NEMA standard AC motors

For projects requiring standard and widely available components, Hydronit also supports B14 IEC and NEMA standard AC motors. These commodity motors are easily sourced in global markets and are available from 0,18 to 7,5 kW, in both single-phase and three-phase versions.

In these configurations, the motor is normally sourced and installed directly by the customer. Hydronit supplies the matching adaptor flanges and two-piece couplings for a wide range of frame sizes, including:

  • IEC 63, 71, 80, 90, 100 and 112

  • NEMA 56C and 184TC

This solution offers flexibility for customers who prefer to integrate standard motors into their hydraulic power pack design while maintaining compatibility with Hydronit components.

Frame 151 DC motors

Frame 151 DC motors are designed for heavy-duty hydraulic applications where performance and durability are essential. These motors are equipped with fan cooling, thermal protection and can operate with running times up to 13 minutes, depending on the application.

The range covers power outputs from 2.5 kW to 4 kW, available in 12 VDC and 24 VDC versions. These motors are a strong choice when higher power and heavy duty are required.

Frame 114 DC motors

Frame 114 DC motors are the most popular choice within the Hydronit range thanks to their versatility and broad application potential. They are ideal for many mobile and compact hydraulic systems where reliable DC power is needed.

Available power ratings include:

  • Up to 2,1 kW at 12 VDC

  • Up to 3 kW at 24 VDC

  • Up to 3 kW at 48 VDC

All motors are supplied with a thermal protector switch as standard, providing added safety and helping protect the system during operation.

Why choose Hydronit electric motors

Choosing the right motor is essential for the overall efficiency, reliability and footprint of a hydraulic power unit. Hydronit electric motors are developed specifically for hydraulic systems and offer several practical advantages:

  • Optimized integration with Hydronit power packs

  • Compact design for reduced overall dimensions

  • High power density

  • Reliable performance in industrial, mobile and marine applications

  • Broad configuration flexibility across AC and DC solutions

  • Solutions for both standardized and application-specific requirements

Whether the goal is maximum compactness, easy sourcing of standard components or robust heavy-duty DC performance, the range is designed to support different engineering needs without compromising reliability.

FAQ

Hydronit AC integral motors are manufactured using the best technologies currently available and are specifically designed for mini power pack duties, typically intermittent ones. Hydronit motors have higher power density, lower weight and are cost effective, compared with standard IE3 motors on the market.

Due to the specific field of application, Hydronit motors are not included in the requirements of the above mentioned Standard since they are specifically and solely manufactured for mini power pack intermittent duties. For continuous duty (S1) applications with 3 phase supply voltage, IE4 motors (IEC 60034-30) must be applied. Ask our sales office.

Single phase motors have a reduced starting torque due to their intrinsic design. Starting torque is around 30-40% of the nominal torque at full power output. When designing circuits where a single phase motor must start under load, a proper calculation must be done followed by a field test to ensure proper starting. Alternatively, you can overcome the problem with the startup valve SUV. Ask our technical office

No special tools are required. Please carefully follow motor side coupling mounting dimension tolerance as per the relevant drawings. Failure to do so may cause malfunction of the power pack and even breakage of the coupling and pump.

DC motors are normally for intermittent duty. It is important to know the required flow in l/min or Gpm, working pressure in bar or PSI and the duty charge. Then, following the diagrams in following pages and relevant instructions, a proper motor/pump combination can be selected.
